I wore this outfit to a friend's (friend's boyfriend) birthday party. It was a chill, house-party type thing, so I figured I could wear a skirt without getting too cold, since he lives near the beach. He was going for a loose Margaritaville theme, so this was my lighter, pastel floral version of his island inspired theme.
I tried to use some of the muted pastel colors in the skirt as inspiration for my accessories- the coral hair accessory and vintage ring with the light blue stone.
M Pastel Floral Skirt: H&M (I can't remember the last time I bought a medium anything, but it's just further proof that it's worth trying something on, despite the size on the tag)
L Blue V-Neck T-Shirt: H&M
XL Black Merona Cardigan: Target
Black and Tan Flip-Flops: Claire's
Gold Bow Earrings: Forever 21
Gold and Blue Ring: Inherited
Coral Flower Hair Clip: H&M
With and without the cardigan. I ended up keeping the cardigan on most of the night, since I got a little chilly. I wanted to get these pink Rocket Dog Madella flats from DSW to wear with this outfit, but I didn't have time to stop in to the DSW by my house before heading out.
I had nearly forgotten about this ring that belonged to my great grandmother until I was halfway out the door. I ran back inside, since it seemed to be so perfect for this outfit. The blue color of the stone picked up the blue in the skirt and was also similar in color to the shirt.
I love these bow earrings. So cute and tiny. As a matter of fact I bought a set of 6 earrings from Forever 21 just to get these, although I count it as a win overall because the other pairs were cute too.
I got a haircut; I was in serious need of an update. So I got more layers and shagged out my bangs. I always get my hair cut at a local beauty school. I figure it helps someone out, since they're students and need real clients to practice on, and it's realllly cheap. The only draw back is that it usually takes awhile.
People often seem really nervous when I tell them I get my haircuts at the beauty school but I look at it as "it's just hair, it'll grow back." I've done some quite intense things to my hair- it was bubblegum pink and dark brown for a time- and I know whatever happens, there's always a way to fix it or work with it.

I always get my hair done at a local beauty school too. It's wayyyy cheaper and I feel comfortable since they have a teacher there to guide them and approve what they do.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just found your blog! So cute! Now following.

@ Case- Thanks for following! I've checked out your blog too, I also try to be frugal and fashionable. You do a fabulous job, I really like your style, we actually have a few of the same pieces :) It's so hard to be frugal sometimes... so much temptation!
ReplyDeleteBeauty schools are a win all around, for sure. Glad I'm not the only one getting the benefits of it.
